For a tourist, Linz's beautiful old town has much to offer. The Potslingerbahn, a famous electric tramway, can not be left off your travel planners.
The Annual Art Electronica Festival is steadily becoming more popular, and during the summer, Linz's bursts into song and dance with cabarets and concerts at various venues. The nightlife is great. The area around Linz is all picturesque valleys and green hillsides, makes for some excellent sightseeing tours.
Austria's third largest city is famous for it's magnificent old town, the near-mythical river Danube that flows through it, and its innovative and thriving cultural scene. The city has been around since Roman times, and in the years that the ailing Habsburg Emperor Friedrich III lived here (till 1493), it was the most important city in the region.
A number of famous historical figures are associated with the city-- Johannes Kepler discovered his law of planetary motion here; Adolf Hitler was born here, and considered Linz his hometown.
